Dundee United’s David Robertson dived – that’s according to Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield.

Aberdeen were 1-0 after a 2nd half goal from Scott Severin, but United equalized through Collin Samuel and were then awarded a chance to take the lead in the 79th minute from the penalty spot.

Referee John Underhill judged that the Aberdeen goalie had barged into David Robertson inside the area and didn’t hesitate in pointing to the spot.

Captain Barry Robson stepped up to slot the penalty home and give United a 2-1 lead, which Collin Samuel extended to 3-1 in the closing stages after catching them on the counterattack.

However, Langfield has told his manager that he was innocent at the penalty incident and has accused Robertson of diving.

Speaking after the match, Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood said, “I never saw the penalty, but Jamie says he never touched the kid, he says that he dived.”

“These things go against you when you are not that sharp.”

“The annoying thing for me is that the players worked their socks off, but it is stupid defensive mistakes which have cost us.”

“You can look at their first goal and there was such a large gap between Michael Hart & Darren Mackie.”

Although, Calderwood admitted that Dundee United should have had a penalty in the 1st half, after Andrew Considine appeared to tug back Collin Samuel in the box.

“I think we were lucky, Dundee United should have had a penalty in the first few minutes.”

“Collin Samuel should have got a penalty, we were caught napping.”
