Manager Csaba Laszlo hailed it as a “big win” and praised substitute Scott McDonald following the 5-0 midweek triumph at relegated Brechin City.
The Tangerines sealed a third straight victory with all five goals coming after a scoreless opening forty-five minutes at Glebe Park.
Billy King, Scott Fraser and Bilel Mohsni added to McDonald’s brace against still winless opponents, in the process virtually ensuring the play-offs for the visitors.
“This is a big win and it can change a lot for us as we are now 99% sure of the play-offs,” Laszlo told the Dundee Evening Telegraph. “It’s now a case of fighting to see if we finish second, third or fourth.
“You can all see the quality Scott has,” he added. “I spoke to him before the game and said I wanted to give him a rest because he has played a few games in a row. He showed great determination to come off the bench and play like that.”
