Even after going 1-0 down to Aberdeen, the Dundee United players never gave up and managed to force their way back into the match – eventually winning 3-1.
It was that fighting spirit and never-say-die attitude which impressed Craig Levein & Dundee United’s assistant boss Peter Houston.
“We are delighted. The players had shown a great attitude to get back into the game after going a goal down,” said Peter Houston.
“In the first half we didn’t play our best and Aberdeen were the better side. However, it was the second-half performance which really impressed the manager and myself – I felt in the 2nd half we were much better.”
“After going a goal behind the players showed a lot of character to come back from that. Yes, we made mistakes and we should have done better at the goal we lost, but the players worked ever so hard.”
However, there’s no time to rest because United have another SPL match in just 2 day time, so the players have to start preparing for the New Years day match against Falkirk.
“My thoughts are now on Falkirk, because we’ve got one day recovery and we’ll be in tomorrow lunchtime for a ‘recovery session’. Our full thoughts will be on Falkirk and tonight I will take home the match reports we’ve got from Falkirk already,” added Houston.
I was impressed by Dundee United’s comeback as well. I thought Barry Robson was once again the man who pushed us forward.
