Organisation has been the key to Dundee United’s recent success, according to assistant manager Peter Houston.

Since Craig Levein’s arrival at the start of November, Dundee United have jumped from 12th to just 3 points behind 6th placed Kilmarnock.

The 3-1 win over Aberdeen was Levein’s 10th match incharge at Tannadice and since joining the club he has seen his side collect a credible 19 points out of a possible 30 – with 6 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats.

The turnaround at Tannadice was almost instantaneous, with a 2-1 win over Rangers the first time Levein’s took charge of the team.

However, the former Hearts & Leicester City manager still wants to see an improvement in performances, even though United’s best displays were in matches that were lost.

“The performances we lost to Hibs and Dunfermline were probably our best performances, but we can’t be greed here,” said Peter Houston.

“We’ve come into a position where the players have worked ever so hard, the whole club is now pulling together and we are now pushing forward – and this can only do us good.”

“I think the managers made a huge difference because, as has been documented, he’s not only a good man-manager but also a good coach as well.”

“We work together as a team, the results weren’t that good enough, but we asked the players to give us that 10% extra and they’ve given us it. We have been delighted with the players response.”

“If you’re organised you always do quite well in this SPL league.”

Dundee United are just 3 points away from 6th placed Kilmarnock and many supporters are hoping Levein can lead the club into the top half of the table and maybe put together a good Scottish Cup run.

Although, Craig Levein has already stated that he has set no targets for this season, other than avoiding relegation and he wont put any added pressure on his players by predicting United will get into the top 6.

“This season we are only taking one game at a time,” added Houston.
