Manager Not Interested In Hearts Job

Unsurprisingly, Craig Levein has rejected the opportunity to re-join Tynecastle, after speculation that the Hearts owner, Vladimir Romanov, was keen to tempt the Dundee United manager back to Edinburgh.

Levein managed Hearts from 2000 to 2004, before an unsuccessful time at Leicester which saw him return to Scotland as manager of Dundee United.

He also has fond memories of playing for Hearts, where he was one of the club`s top defenders for 14-years, between 1983 and 1997.

However, Levein confirmed this week that he has no interest in returning to Tynescastle, because he is happy to remain in-charge at Tannadice.

“I know nothing about it [the Hearts offer]. It’s a bit of a pain really. I am happy here at Tannadice and I’m enjoying my job,” the United boss told Setanta.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee was expected to be confirmed at Hearts head-coach earlier in the week, but the highly rated manager decided instead to sign an extended contract and remain at Fir Park.

Kilmarnock`s Jim Jeffries is the next man to be strongly linked with the vacant position, but Dundee United supporters are just glad that Levein has ruled himself out of the job.

Although, its clear that many Hearts supporters would love to see Levein back in Maroon.

“I think he`d be welcomed by most fans. the fact he`s a Hearts man through and through counts for a lot among the support,” admitted chairman of the Hearts Supporter Association, Derek Watson, to the Scottish Sun.

“There`s also the fact he won something here – Not a lot of folk can say that.”

I think Levein is probably the best (& most consistently good) manager in the SPL right now. So in that regard, any team would be glad to have him… I wish it was Hearts, but hey. Not going to happen this decade. Guess it’s going to be JJ or some rank outsider.

JJ could still do a good job for Hearts, but I dont know if the supporters will appreciate his defensive approach to the game!

Who in their right minds would want to go and work for Romanov!!!!
