Dundee United boss Craig Levein has warned fans not to expect to win every game after he maintained his 100 per cent record at the weekend.
Levein has now won twice in two attempts – the same number of league games former boss Craig Brewster won in 28 outings before leaving Tannadice – but he has admitted he is still ‘waiting to be hit on the head with a mallet.’
The Terrors climbed to 10th place after beating Kilmarnock 1-0 at the weekend, thanks to a Noel Hunt strike. Levein’s opened his account at Tannadice by beating Rangers 2-1 the previous weekend.
After the Killie match, Levein said: ‘I’ve seen the results in the past here and I’m still waiting to be hit on the head with a mallet at some point. We lost 16 goals in four games before I arrived and that will come again at some point.
‘We have worked on our defence but major things don’t happen in 10 days. The players’ attitude has been the most pleasing aspect and this result meant more to me than the win against Rangers. There was loads of effort but not a lot of good football. But we were better in the second half and deserved to win.’
Miracle worker or not, there now seems to be a confidence about the players that was missing under Brewster and that should translate into better performances, and more points, on the pitch.
