Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth is confident that the Terrors will continue to climb the league under new boss Craig Levein.
While Craig Brewster managed only two wins in 28 league games before being booted out of Tannadice, Levein has now managed two from his first two games. Following a 2-1 win over Rangers, Dundee Utd recorded a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock on Saturday (Nov 11) to move up to 10th and five points clear of basement-club Dunfermline.
Kenneth, 19, is sure that at least part of the improvement is down to a change in training, with the players now spending more time with footballs at their feet than with weights in their hands.
Kenneth said: ‘Training has been based on where we have been losing games. We’ve worked on defending and done more ball work than weights and it’s working. The lack of ball work didn’t work for us. It worked for Craig at Inverness and he brought his ideas down here.
‘But he had a different bunch of boys and it didn’t work out. There was an overemphasis on weights – now we only do it once a week. We spend two days on defending and it’s showing on the park. We are definitely doing something right. We now feel that if we don’t take our chances we can keep them out at the other end.’
