The 27-year-old has picked up eight bookings and a red card this season and is only one more yellow away from a three-match suspension.

Robson has already had two enforced lay-offs this season and will walk a tightrope for the rest of the campaign. Manager Craig Brewster recently issued him with a public warning, urging him to think what’s best for the team.

Robson was issued with six yellows in a dozen games between October and the beginning of January – the period coinciding with former manager Gordon Chisholm’s demise – which suggests his discipline problems are borne from an overeagerness.

The former Caley Thistle player said: ‘I hate being in the stand, but I won’t be going on to the park thinking I’d better watch myself. I am committed to the team and that’s the only way I know how to play. I’ve had a few suspensions, but I don’t think anyone who has seen me play would say I’m a dirty player.

‘I’ve been booked for a couple of disputable dives, but the rest of them were just for late tackles.’
