Craig Levein has seen Dundee United perform well away from home against Dunfermline & Hibernian, but not pick up any points. Then, he watched several poor performances win 4-in-a-row at Tannadice.

So, it’s no surprise that Levein doesn`t care much about Dundee United playing well, if there`s no reward at the end of it.

“Points are everything, I don’t want to be sucked into saying all that – we played well, but didn`t win – rubbish,” Levein said in his weekly column for the Daily Record.

He continued, “It’s vital we build a team that has the determination to win any way needed, but at least if we`re being beaten that we`re going down fighting for our fans.”

Against Dunfermline, United played well & dominated most of the match, but it was the Pars that should the fighting spirit in the closing moments of the match and they that’s probably the reason they eventually won 2-1.

Against Hibernian, United might have been on the end of a few woeful refereeing decisions, but they kept going right to the end and should probably have taken at least a point away from Easter Road – if they had been given a late penalty after Conway was felled in the penalty area.

Speaking more about the Hibs match, Levein said “It was a decent performance and there many things we did well, but points are everything.”

“Its unbelievably tight at our end of the table. Dunfermline will improve now Stephen Kenny is free of his commitments to Derry City, Motherwell have improved in recent weeks and St Mirren are very tough to beat.”

Although, Levein has promised he will continue to push his players over the next few months, to ensure United aren`t still struggling against relegation later in the campaign.

“If any team hopes to perform well and win matches, it needs a team of players pulling their weight and I`m confident we wont be found lacking in that regard at Tannadice.”
