Dundee United’s new boss Craig Levein has stressed the hard work starts now at Tannadice despite the superb 2-1 win over Rangers yesterday (Nov 5).
Following the string of bad results that blighted Craig Brewster’s reign at the club, the players seemed to dust themselves down against Rangers and came from a goal down to record the win – and move above Dunfermline at the bottom of the SPL table.
Charlie Adam gave the Glaswegians the lead after 50 minutes, but the Arabs struck back through Garry Kenneth and Lee Mair to ensure Paul Le Guen’s side had a November 5 they would certainly remember in front of 10,392 fans.
After the win, Levein said: ‘It is only one match, that’s what I have been trying to stress to the boys. All I have seen is 90 minutes. I will have to wait and see what happens next week.
‘We can’t allow this to be a one-off result. We will find out next week and in the weeks to come whether people are really prepared to roll their sleeves up.
‘I think yesterday we got the thing which happens each time a new manager comes in – extra concentration and determination.’
The result was, in all honesty, something of a smash and grab that left Rangers 15-points behind league leaders Celtic – who have already won the league according to bookmakers Paddy Power, who paid out following the Hoops last minute win against Hearts on Saturday.
