New signing Barry Douglas believes he can be the latest to make the step up and really impress a new audience at Tannadice.

The 20-year-old has arrived from Queen’s Park on a three-year deal after manager Peter Houston held off interest from a number of other clubs.

Morgaro Gomis, Craig Conway and Danny Swanson are amongst those who have made a real impression on Tayside after moving up the divisions, and the Glasgow-born defender is certain he can follow their example and win favour with the fans.

“It`s obviously down to the player himself to produce the goods but the club has showed beyond all doubt they`re willing to give boys from those leagues a chance,” he told the Press & Journal.

“You just have to look at what Craig Conway did in the Scottish Cup final and he came from Ayr in the first place.

“First things first, I need to come in and adapt to full-time football. It`s a challenge I`m relishing.”
