Dundee United have completed their first summer signing by bringing Queen’s Park defender Barry Douglas to Tannadice.
However, manager Peter Houston had to fight off competition from a number of other clubs for the 20-year-old left-back.
Douglas originally made the breakthrough into the Queen’s Park first-team a couple of years ago and has since netted eleven times in 76 senior appearances.
He was also understood to have interested both Aberdeen and Partick Thistle, while Watford were also seriously in the mix to take him south of the border.
His arrival increases options on the left side of defence where he will contest a starting place with Paul Dixon and Sean Dillon.
