Finally, Dundee United might have found a solution to their goal scoring problems, as Craig Levein uses the next few days to decide whether to take Belgian International Cedric Roussel on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old striker is currently owned by Italian side Brescia, but with a deal already reached between the 2 clubs, the final decision will be down to Craig Levein.

With the departure of Collin Samuel at the end of last season and the long-term injury to Jon Daly, it leaves Levein with only Noel Hunt and youngster David Goodwillie upfront.

Roussll arrived at Tannadice last Friday, to give Levein time to see the former Standard Liege, Coventry and Wolves striker in training.

Levein is hopeful to have any deal concluded before the Kilmarnock match next Monday evening.

“It is not the be all and end all, but I really would like this resolved before we play Kilmarnock and that`s what we are working towards,” admitted Levein to the Evening Telegraph this week.

“Cedric is a little bit behind fitness wise because he`s been in Italy and they don`t start back until the end of August.”

“He’s done okay in training and finishing-wise looks alright.”

“He is currently with Brescia in Italy and we have agreed a deal with them for a loan if we want to go ahead with it,” Levein admitted on Roussell`s arrival.

“His goal-scoring record in England was very good and he played in the Premiership with Coventry.”

“I remember him from his time down south and he`s a good player, but we will wait and see what happens.”

“When he has been playing he has scored goals for all his clubs.”
