Dundee United supporters are being encouraged to turn out in large numbers this Saturday afternoon for the SPL clash against St Mirren at Tannadice.

Former Chairman Eddie Thompson passed away last week, after a long battle with prostate cancer and his family have requested a minute`s silence before kick-off.

United supporters are being encouraged to wear bright clothing, turning Tannadice into a sea of tangerine, while admission prices are being set at £5 to allow as many supporters as possible to pay their respects to the former Chairman.

“We are very aware that many United supporters – and indeed fans of other teams – will wish to attend Saturday’s game to pay tribute to my father,” Chief Executive Stephen Thompson told the Official website.

“We want to encourage this as much as possible, but do not wish to be seen to profit from this genuine and heartfelt recognition of my father’s contribution to the Club and Scottish football.”

“My family has therefore requested that prices are reduced to this nominal level and that as many fans as possible wear tangerine as a mark of respect.”

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind and moving tributes paid to my father and for the wonderful response by supporters of all SPL clubs, and at other grounds, before each game at the weekend.”
