Dundee United could be one of 2 Scottish sides chasing Robbie Winters, after his agent revealed he is considering serious offers from at least 3 UK based clubs.

Craig Levein is seeking an experienced frontman to join Dundee United during the January transfer window and Winters already has experience of playing in the SPL and might make a good addition to the squad.

The 32-year old former Dundee United & Aberdeen striker has been playing in Norway with SK Brann Bergen since 2002, but has made it clear he is looking for a move back to the UK.

He`s already been linked with Sheffield Wednesday & Oldham, but rejected the chance to go on trial at division 1 Oldham earlier this month. Winters has said he fancies the challenge of playing in the English championships, which would make Sheffield Wednesday favorites to sign the Scottish striker.

“At the moment, we are talking to three serious clubs, one in England and two in Scotland,” his agent – Phillip McTaggart – told the Norwegian press.

“Robbie himself wants to play in the Championship and we are working on getting a trial there.”

Winters played over 100 appearances for Dundee United, before moving to Aberdeen in 1998 in a deal which saw £700,000 and Billy Dodds move in the opposite direction.

He played 122 league matches for Aberdeen, scoring 41 times – several times against his old club – before a very short stint at Luton, where he played only 1 match before moving to Norway.

I wonder if the other Scottish club chasing him was Aberdeen? But since they’ve signed Brewster now, they wont still want him – would they?
