Weather To Blame For Poor Start?

Defender Steven Robb believes that the weather has been one of the contributing factors towards Dundee United’s miserable start to 2007.

Wind, rain and snow have conspired to prevent Craig Levein’s side from having access to proper training facilities, with United losing their first 3 consecutive SPL matches after the New Year.

A 5-1 loss to Falkirk at Tannadice was followed by another humiliating 5 goal defeat at Ibrox, with Kilmarnock making it 3 straight losses with a 1-0 win at Rugby Park.

The only thing preventing a 4th consecutive defeat was probably struggling Dunfermline’s inability to score goals, resulting a goal-less draw at Tannadice a fortnight ago.

However, after crashing out of the Scottish Cup to Caley Thistle last weekend, Dundee United managed to turn things around with a 1-0 victory over Gus MacPherson’s Saints at Love Street this weekend.

“We sat down earlier this week to watch the video of the cup-tie and afterwards had a really good discussion about it,” admitted Robb.

“The gaffer told us what he thought of the game and we said our piece and hopefully off the back of that we can produce an improved performance this week.”

“I don’t think we’ve been at the races as much in the last few weeks as we were when the manager first came in.”

“That may be down to the training facilities not being as good as they were because of the weather. Whatever it is though we need to overcome it.”
