Former Rangers & Dundee United midfielder Charlie Miller has turned down the chance to return to the SPL, to joined Belgian side Lierse.

There was speculation linking 30-year-old Miller with a return to Scotland, with Aberdeen, St Mirren and even Dundee United rumoured to be keen on the former International.

Norwegain side SK Brann released both Charlie Milller and Robbie Winters in the summer, after they fell out with coach Mons Ivar Mjelde.

Miller was training with Rangers last month, but new manager Walter Smith dismissed claims of a return to Ibrox and that came as a blow to the midfielder.

“I wanted to sign for Rangers but it didn’t work out,” admitted Miller.

“I had a few options but wasn’t holding out on a move to Scotland.”

“This is a new challenge. Lierse have offered a great package and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
