Dundee United defender Christian Kalvenes is set to quit Tannadice in the summer, to return to Norway.
31-year-old Kalvenes is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, but it waiting to see if Dundee United qualify for the UEFA Cup next season, before making his final decision.
“I would find it difficult to walk away if we were in Europe but I would also find it difficult to leave even if we didn’t qualify,” admitted Kalvenes to the Dundee Courier.
“I have had such a great time here and whatever I decide to do will be difficult for me. I have enjoyed it so much at United and the longer you stay here, the more you get to love the club.”
“Everything is going along nicely just now as you can see by the results. It will be one of the biggest decisions of my career. It was a big decision leaving Norway to come here but I have no regrets.”
Kalvenes was part of the side which lost 1-0 to Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday, but is hopeful that the result wont prevent United from securing 3rd top spot in the SPL this season.
He continued, “Hopefully, whatever happens with my situation, the club will be looking forward to playing in the UEFA Cup next season.”
“We are in there fighting with Motherwell and Hibs. It`s so close. A European campaign would lift the club and the players.”
