Tangerines turn down increased bid

Dundee United have rejected the latest bid believed to be around £1.6m for striker David Goodwillie.

It is understood that offer has come from Blackpool, with the Tayside club still holding out for their original £2m asking price.

Both the Seasiders and SPL champions Rangers have been heavily linked with the 22-year-old in recent weeks, whilst the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United have also had representation at recent games.

Indeed Rangers have already seen a couple of bids turned down for a player who netted nineteen times last season.

“First and foremost, he’ll not be going anywhere unless someone puts money on the table,” manager Peter Houston told BBC Scotland. “We’ve got here a lad who scored 20 goals or something like that last year in the SPL. That’s brilliant for a provincial club like Dundee United.

“Rangers normally supply more chances than Dundee United – and I don’t mean any disrespect to our boys – so how many goals is he potentially good enough to score for Rangers if he did go to them, for instance?”
