Every time things start to look good for Dundee United, the Scottish Media find an excuse to stir things up.

As expected, the rumours of a divided dressing room hit the back pages this week, as defender Darren Dods was linked with a Tannadice exit.

A few weeks ago, manager Craig Levein made a tactical decision to leave Darren Dods out of the starting line-up against Celtic.

Then comes an enquiry from former United player-manager Craig Brewster about Dods ahead of the transfer window closing, which was promptly refused by Levein.

Now weeks later, after a crucial 1-0 win over Aberdeen and a convincing 2-0 victory against Airdrie United in the League Cup, the speculation has started again.

Apparently,, Dods is unhappy at Tannadice and is set to leave in search of 1st team football, despite being in the starting eleven in all 3 of United`s wins over Aberdeen, Airdrie United and Hearts.

Not surprisingly, the 33-year-old has denied the rumours and says he will remain at the club to fight for his place in Craig Levein`s side.

“When Inverness saw I wasn’t in the team they got in touch with the manager to see if I was available but he wanted to keep me,” admitted Dods to the Daily Record.

“That suits me because I am happy here and want to fight for my place in the team. I love it at Dundee United and I get on well with the boys and think things are going to improve here.”

“The gaffer has built a big squad to get competition for places because that keeps all of us on our toes. It’s good for the club and the players because it keeps standards high.”
