Steven Pressley is hoping to finalise a deal with his new club as soon as possible.
Dundee United’s Craig Levein has been intouch with the Scotland International and admits that his chances of bringing the 33-year-old to Tannadice are slim, but he’s at least pleaded his case with Pressley.
“I spoke to Steven yesterday and he knows I want to sign him, but he has other offers to consider and I would say we are well down the pecking order,” said Levein.
“From speaking to him, I think he wants his future sorted out sooner rather than later, but, right now, I`m not holding my breath so far as our chances go.”
Rangers were being linked with a move for the defender, but have since publically denied any interest. Though, Celtic, Southampton and Derby are among several clubs who have admitted an interest in signing Pressley.
“Of course I would like to sign Pressley, I think if you asked 90 percent of the managers in Scotland, they would say the same thing,” said Levein.
“I am fairly realistic about these things and I am sure he will have a lot of very good offers – but I would love to see him here.”
“I had a chat with him yesterday about a number of things, not just about coming to Tannadice. I have made a pitch to him and we will see what happens.”
“I don’t think I would be doing my job properly for Dundee United if I did not make an effort to get him.”

Im glad Dundee United are showing ambition by approaching Pressley, but its unlikely he’ll ever return to Tannadice.
