Dundee United have secured the services of another two 1st team players until 2011, after defender Darren Dodds and midfielder Prince Bauben agreed contract extensions.

Following in the footsteps of United manager Craig Levein, who agreed to remain at Tannadice for another 2-years beyond the remaining 18-months of his current deal, there have been several important players agreeing longterm deals.

Club captain Lee Wilkie, Morgaro Gomis, Sean Dillon, Jon Daly and now Darren Dods and Prince Buaben have all put pen to paper.

“While the contracts for Morgaro and Prince were not due to expire until May 2010, they have both made an immediate – and earlier than expected – impact as first-team players and I am confident that they will both develop even further,” admitted United manager Craig Levein to the Daily Record.

“It was important therefore to not only reward them, but to secure them for Dundee United for a longer period. This is all part of our strategy for the future of the club.”

“My admiration for Darren Dods as a player and model professional is no secret and, despite his age, I had no hesitation in offering him a further two-year contract to ensure his services were retained for the club,”

“He is extremely fit, looks after himself well and will continue to play an important role at Dundee United over the next two years.”
