Dundee United had been dealt a huge blow in their fight for 3rd place in the SPL this season, after Scott Robertson was sidelined until the end of the campaign.
23-year-old Robertson has a serious groin complaint that requires several months of complete rest, so he is unlikely to play another competitive match until next season.
After signing from rivals Dundee in the summer, midfielder Robertson has been one of United`s most important players, with 5 goals (3 SPL, 2 SLC) and multiple man-of-the-match awards.
‘It’s a blow for the player and for the team but these things happen and you just have to get on with it,’ admitted United manager Craig Levein to the Scottish Herald this week.
‘It’s the type of thing you have to deal with to stop getting worse, so although Scott has been playing through it he’s going to have to take a step back now.’
