Manager Csaba Laszlo will stay in charge of Dundee United even if unable to lead them to promotion this season, according to new chairman Mike Martin.

The Tangerines already occupy a play-off spot but are currently seventeen points behind leaders St Mirren in the automatic promotion place.

Martin succeeded Stephen Thompson in the role at Tannadice only last week.

“I have spent a fair bit of time with Csaba planning for the remainder of this season and next season,” he confirmed to BBC Scotland. “For next season we have to look at two scenarios. One where we are in the Premiership and one where we remain in the Championship.

“I sincerely hope it’s the former but we are budgeting for the latter in the event that’s where we end up.”
