Dundee United swapped places with Livingston in the table after a 2-0 defeat at the Almondvale Stadium.

The hosts were ahead on seven minutes when Daniel Mullen despatched Alan Lithgow’s free-kick inside the near post from a sharp angle.

Nikolay Todorov soon headed wide another Mullen free-kick, with striker James Keatings replying too high.

Livi’s James Penrice then lobbed over following on loan goalkeeper Harry Lewis rushing out to head away, with Scott McDonald dragging wide for their visitors after the break.

Billy King’s later effort failed to seriously challenge home keeper Neil Alexander before Todorov settled matters when on the end of Mullan’s low 76th minute cross from the right.

Substitute Raffaele De Vita also struck the inside of a post late on.
