Striker Lee Miller has joined Aberdeen on a free transfer, bringing an end to a disappointing 15 months at Tannadice since joining from Bristol City for £225,000.

The 23-year-old managed to find the net just eight times, and United boss Craig Brewster decided to let Miller go and start rebuilding for the future.

Miller, who has also played at Falkirk, Bristol City and on-loan at Hearts, had two years remaining on his contract and perhaps the money saved can help the rebuilding process.

Miller told the Dundee Evening Telegraph: ‘It was a bit of a roller-coaster ride, to be honest, with a lot of ups and downs and I did not play particularly well. I did not play to the standard I know I am capable of.’

United boss Craig Brewster said: ‘Rebuilding for the future must be based on decisions taken for the long-term benefit of the club. It is essential to build a balanced squad of players and, as such, some players have had to be moved on to accommodate this.

‘All of these decisions, including the transfer of Lee Miller, have been mine. All of the decisions have been made for football reasons and I have been fully supported by the board.’

Time will tell whether Miller will perform wonders for the Dons – and will anybody be too surprised if he nets a hat-trick against his old team-mates this season…?

If Miller plays as well for Aberdeen as well as he did on-loan at Hearts, then he could do wonders for them. Sadly, I think his performances at Tynecastle were the exception, rather than the rule.
