Dundee United goalkeeper Dusan Pernis saw his World Cup dream finally ended after his Slovakia side were defeated by Holland on Monday.

But he won’t be rushing back to reunite with his colleagues at Tannadice, and will instead be taking a holiday before maybe joining the Arabs squad for their summer trip to Austria and Germany.

“Dusan deserves a break with his family,” manager Peter Houston told the Daily Record. “There will be no rush back for him although he may join us in Austria.”

Defender Mihael Kovacevic will also be missing when the players reassemble this week, as he is due to visit a specialist for an assessment on his knee ligament problems.
