Dundee United’s faltering promotion challenge gets another opportunity to revive itself this evening when visiting Inverness Caledonian Thistle (kick-off 7.45pm).

Defender Tam Scobbie is doubtful for the play-off hopefuls, though, having been forced off during their weekend home draw with Dunfermline Athletic.

Midfielder Scott Fraser at least made a welcome return to action from the start after three months out, but will need checking given the swift turn around in games.

Manager Csaba Laszlo insists his side must start taking their chances more regularly: “We have to score these but I think at the end of the day it was a good game from both teams,” he told the Dundee Evening Telegraph regarding the weekend meeting.

“We lost two points definitely and I must just make a compliment to the players because they showed attitude and energy. I think also that especially in the second half we made two, maybe three good chances.”

Caley should be on something of a high having replaced their latest opponents as Irn-Bru Cup holders at the weekend, when a late injury-time winner from Carl Tremarco eventually accounted for Dumbarton.
