Craig Levein will give youth a chance at Tannadice, even though he intends to bring in some more experienced players during the January transfer window.

David Goodwillie has been told by the new Dundee United manager that he is an important part in his plans for the club, despite Levein`s hinting at bringing in at least one new striker in the New Year.

The Scotland Under-19 striker has been reassured that he wont be pushed further down the pecking order, even if a new striker arrives in January, but after recent performances the youngster has proven he`s worth his place in the 1st team line-up.

The 17-year old received a lot of positive press after his impressive performance in United`s 2-1 win over Rangers at Tannadice, but Craig Levein has been playing down the hype & has even suggested that Goodwillie isn`t ready for regular first team football yet.

‘David is close enough to the first team to be there or thereabouts and he’s also doing okay in training.’ Said Levein.

Most of the United team are playing for their futures at the moment, with finances at the club likely to mean several players must leave before new signings can be brought in.

Former Hearts player Mark De Vries has already been linked with a move to Tannadice & Levein is currently putting together a list of players he`d like Chairman Eddie Thompson to bring to the club.

Levein said ‘If I get one player in during the January transfer window that will still only leave me with four strikers.”

“I’ll want four front players so I can change things about, I`d like to sign someone that will also give us the option to move to a 4-4-2.”

Just wait until the January window, I’ll best the average age of the new signings will be into the early 30’s, lol.
No, not really, but we really do need a few more experienced players who will keep the team going when things arent going our way.
A player like Steven Pressley, a leader, who wont let the team stop playing after 80mins!!!
