Dundee United remain fourth in the table following a scoreless draw at still winless Falkirk.

The Tangerines were forced into an early change after recent arrival Paul Quinn departed the action with a head knock.

Fellow centre-back Mark Durnan then headed over a Paul McMullan corner while Fraser Fyvie’s volley from the edge of the area glanced an upright.

However, Craig Sibbald’s header also tested the woodwork at the other end and Scott McDonald’s diving reply was too high ahead of the break.

McMullan should have done better from Jamie Robson’s cross following the restart and Sibbald also wasted an opportunity at the other end.

But the visitors could later have snatched it when McMullan’s cross evaded everybody and came back off the crossbar.
