Dundee United will attempt to halt leaders St Mirren clinching the Championship title at Tannadice this evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

However, the Tangerines’ disappointing 3-2 defeat to lowly Dumbarton at the weekend did little to press their own claims of joining the Buddies in next season’s Premiership line-up.

On loan defender Anthony Ralston and Scott McDonald were both on target for the visitors but they were made to rue poor defending at the other end.

“We have now five games and we talk about the play-offs,” manager Csaba Laszlo told the Dundee Evening Telegraph. “We have to go to the play-offs but in these five games we have to find in the dressing-room a different way.

“At the moment you do not have to look at who wins the Championship,” he added. “You look at Dundee United, on paper we were the favourite but the reality shows we have a fight now for the play-offs.”
