Dundee United are back in league action for a derby meeting with St Johnstone at Tannadice on Wednesday evening.

Midfielder Ryan Gauld could return from a recent hip injury but fellow teenager John Souttar is still struggling with Achilles trouble. Therefore Sean Dillon should continue after on loan centre-back Curtis Good was ruled out for up to six weeks with a hip flexor problem.

“It’s great to be in the semi-final of the Cup and it’s all credit to the players, but we have a very tough league match on Wednesday night which will get our full attention,” manager Jackie McNamara promised BBC Scotland. “St Johnstone are never easy opponents and we know it will be a very tough 90 minutes

“We’re on a good run right now but won’t be taking anything for granted,” he added. “It’s just one game at a time as far as we’re concerned and giving St Johnstone our full focus is what we’ll be doing.”

Saints striker Steven MacLean is suspended having recently been sent-off against Aberdeen, while Frazer Wright, Tam Scobbie and Murray Davidson remain sidelined.
