Manager Craig Levein has admitted that Caley Thistle captain Darren Dods hasn’t actually signed anything with Dundee United…yet!!!
The BBC reported on Saturday that the 31-year-old defender has signed a pre-contract that will see him arrive at Tannadice in the summer summer.
Although both the club and the player have an agreement, Levein admitted that nothing is set in stone…..yet.
It comes just a few weeks after the Sean Dillon mix-up, that saw Shelbourne make an official announcement that the defender had already signed for Dundee United – even though Levein hadn’t even spoken to the player or his agent at that stage.
“We have a verbal agreement with Darren but haven’t reached the stage where he has put pen to paper,” Levein told the Courier.
“It’s not true that we have signed Darren Dods on a pre-contract, but we have been speaking to him and there could be developments with that over the next week.”
“Even if he is coming here, I don’t think it’ll happen until the summer, so I am actively seeking to bring someone in for that position.”
“He will obviously add physical presence and organisation to the defence, but that will be for next season and I am actively seeking someone who can do it for the rest of this season.”
Sounds like the deal is almost done though
