Former Dundee United midfielder Charlie Miller is back in Scotland and searching for a new club, after being told he no longer has a future at SK Brann.

30-year-old Miller is currently training at Ibrox, but manager Walter Smith has made it clear this is only a short-term arrangement whilst the former Rangers player is preparing for the re-start of the Norwegian season in April.

However, SK Brann coach Mons Ivar Mjelde has told both Charlie Miller and Robbie Winters that they should start looking for a new club, after refusing to allow either player to join the rest of the squad at their pre-season training camp in Spain.

“Miller asked if he could practice with us. He is back home because a person he knows is sick,” said Walter Smith.

The SK Brann squad is currently in Gran Canaria and La Manga, but Robbie Winters is currently on trial with English side Bristol City.

The 1st division side are the 2nd club to offer Winters a trial recently, with the 32-year-old striker also having a trial with another 1st division side – Oldham Athletic.

Manager Craig Levein is currently reviewing the future of several of United`s 1st team, with the clubs longest serving player David McCracken told last weekend that he no longer has a future at Tannadice.

However, following Dundee United`s humiliating 5-0 defeat at Ibrox a few weeks ago, Levein made it clear that he was far from happy with several of his squad and that at least 2 or 3 players would be leaving, unless they showed a vast improvement in their performances.

Sheffield Wednesday have turned down United`s approach to take defender Graeme Coughlin on loan until the end of the season, whilst there is speculation that former West Ham captain Christian Dailly could be making a shock return to Tannadice.

If Miller has changed his ways, then perhaps United could give him another chance at Tannadice?
