Dundee United manager Craig Levein is on the look-out for another striker, as Noel Hunt`s departure looms ever closer.

Sunderland frontman Roy O’Donovan has been linked with a loan move to Tannadice, but the 22-year-old has begged Roy Keane for a chance to make his mark on the Premiership next season.

Levein has been keeping an eye on the Irish born striker, who was unable to score in any of the 19 matches he played for Sunderland last season, but 15 appearances were from the substitutes bench.

O`Donovan began his career as a youth player with several English sides, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cheltenham Town and Coventry City.

He moved back to Ireland in 2005 to join Eircom side Cork City in 2005, where he established himself as the clubs top goal scorer.

He moved to Sunderland in August 2007, for a fee of around ?500,000 and made his Premiership debut against Birmingham City on the 15th of August 2007.
