Recent signing Paul Quinn suffered a heart scare as a result of a poisoned tooth, it has emerged.

The former Ross County centre-back required a tooth removed prior to the weekend visit to Falkirk because of problems with an abscess.

However, he was then replaced after just ten minutes at the Falkirk Stadium, with the effects of his infection leaving him feeling unwell and causing his heart rate to dramatically increase.

“He is really struggling and we haven’t seen him since Saturday,” manager Ray McKinnon told the Dundee Courier. “He is away seeing the doctor for an ECG scan. He needed the heart scan done because his heart rate was going through the roof yesterday.

“From what we gather, some infection has gotten into his mouth and is having this effect on him,” he explained. “He had an abscess and needed a tooth extraction but it has led to this infection. It is obviously causing him a real problem. We will just have to wait and see what the doctors are saying but, hopefully, he will be fine.”
