There has been further speculation linking Dundee United midfielder Morgaro Gomis with a move to Rangers.

Rangers manager Walter Smith is rumoured to be considering a £800,000 bid for the 22-year-old Frenchman, who had an excellent 07/08 season for Craig Levein`s side.

Gomis made 56 appearances in Tangerine last season, scoring twice against Aberdeen in a 4-1 win at Pittodrie and against Gretna in a 3-0 victory at Fir Park.

Craig Levein signed Gomis from Cowdenbeath in January 2007, but was offered an extended 2-year deal in September 2007.

The midfielder started his career with French side Montpellier as a youth player, also spending some time in the Chelsea youth ranks.

He played 18 matches for English lower league side Windsor & Eton, then a short stay at Barnet near the beginning of the 2005/06 season and then Lewes, before joining Cowdenbeath in December 2006.

Craig Levein has been hugely impressed with the French star`s performances since he arrived at Tannadice and would be keen to keep him a Dundee United player.

However, the expected £800,000 the club would receive from Rangers could be used to secure the services of Cardiff City midfielder Willo Flood, who also had a successful loan spell at United last season.
