Even the Dundee United players are hoping that Barcelona come to Tannadice in the summer, with speculation that the Spanish club are in negotiations to play a pre-season friendly at the end of July.
It was announced last week that Barcelona are considering coming to Scotland as part of their preparations for the 2007/08 campaign – but the match is looking under threat because the Catalan side are demanding a huge appearance fee.
Although, if the match does somehow get the go-ahead, it wont just be the Dundee United supporters looking forward to seeing the likes of Ronaldinho and Deco in action.
“We’ve heard the rumours and now it looks like it’s happening,” admitted Sean Dillon earlier this week
“It’s a great prospect to challenge ourselves against a team such as Barcelona and some of the very best players in the world.”
“There’s a good while to go before that but it will be a welcome break from the running part of pre-season, but there’s still a lot of football to be played between now and the end of the season and that is what we are concentrating on first and foremost.”
