Dundee United have re-signed midfielder Willo Flood following his release from Aberdeen.

The 31-year-old Irishman agreed a one-year deal with the Championship newcomers and will be in his fourth spell at Tannadice.

He previously made over 150 appearances for the Tangerines and also includes stays with Celtic and Middlesbrough.

“I would not have dropped down the divisions for any other club,” Flood admitted to United’s official website. “I hope that shows how much I want to be back at United.

“The reason I have come back to United is primarily the manager,” he admitted. “Everything he told me of his plans for the club I liked. His ambition, drive and desire convinced me this move would be good for me.”

Manager Ray McKinnon had already snapped up Tope Obadeyi, Cammy Bell, Stewart Murdoch, Lewis Toshney and Cammy Smith since relegation last season.
