Blackburn Rovers have come back in with an improved offer for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie that could eventually reach £2.8m.
The Tangerines would receive an initial £2m with potential add-ons ultimately raising the final total to the full amount.
Premiership Blackburn had already seen an opening £1.7m bid turned down and are now expected to wrap up the revised deal within the next twenty-four hours.
That would leave Rangers and Blackpool disappointed as both have already had earlier offers turned down for the 22-year-old Scottish international.
