Peter Houston hailed an excellent Dundee United performance after visiting Ibrox and conquering Rangers 2-0 in the Scottish Cup fifth round.

First-half goals from Gavin Gunning and Johnny Russell were enough to reward the visitors for a fine team display and send them through into the last eight of the competition.

“The first-half performance, especially, was excellent,” Houston told BBC Radio Scotland. “We created a lot of chances and scored two good goals. We didn’t play as well in the second half, but I’m maybe being a wee bit picky.

“We still looked dangerous on the counter attack and restricted Rangers to not a lot,” he added. “But it’s nice to come to Ibrox and record a victory. We kept attacking and kept two up all the time.”
