Dundee United manager Craig Levein believes that it was 2 points lost against Hibernian at Tannadice at the weekend.

The goalless draw at Tannadice was over-shadowed by the state of the pitch, after pesky daddy-log-legs turned it from a football pitch into a bombsite by laying their eggs in the turf.

However, infront of the Setanta cameras, Dundee United still tried to play on the shabby surface and pass their way to victory – having the majority of possession and chances over the 90minutes.

“I think we did (have the better the chances),” admitted Levein after the match.

“I’m a little bit disappointed not to win the match, considering the fact that we had the lion’s share of possession and the chances.”

“I felt sorry for both sets of players today, to pass the ball on that pitch was extremely difficult and at times it made the players look a little bit foolish.”

“The balls bobbling about all over the place and it was difficult, but we probably handled it better than Hibs and on chances we should have won the match.”

Craig Conway had a great chance at the end of the 1st half, after finding himself in space at the backpost, but he couldn’t get enough on Barry Robson’s pass and knocked the ball just wide of the post.

“Trying to guess where the ball will go when it’s running over surface like that is difficult, but I thought he (Craig Conway) had scored – it’s a pity we didn’t get infront,” continued Levein.

“I can’t fault the players today, I thought we showed a lot of grit and determination and again we looked very solid defensively.”

“Hibs are one the best attacking sides in the league, but we’ve spent a lot of time working on it on the training ground and that is evident now.”

With Dundee United’s defense starting to shape up, its now time for the manager to concentrate on improving the attacking sitatuion – since United have only scored 3 goals in 6 league matches since the start of 2007.

“We’ve got some really good attacking players had particularity if we get into the last third of the pitch, you want to put in a decent final pass or cross into the box,” said Levein.

“Now we just need to and that little bit of a quality in the final third, but in 2 years time, I will be looking to win games like this that we dominate.”

“I know that you can’t win them all, but a little bit more in the last third of the pitch, little bit more concentration and a little bit more quality and we would have won this match.”
