Representatives of both Dundee FC and Dundee United will meet today to go over the format of next seasons annual Discovery Cup tournament. In the pre-season before this season there was a tournament which involved both Dundee clubs and English sides Sheffield Wednesday and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The clubs are split as follows on the format of the Tournament. Dundee FC are in favour of retaining a 4 team tournament with a Dundee derby on the Saturday as well as the other two teams playing in a ?semi-final? format with the winners playing the following day and also a 3rd and 4th place play off.

Last season Dundee were defeated in the first game by United, Sheffield Wednesday beat Wolves at Tannadice and the final was decided by a United win against Sheffield Wednesday at Dens Park.

United are favouring a ?one-off? derby match to decided whether the Discovery Cup remains at Tannadice.

I personally am in favour of the one off match but we shall see what transpires from the meeting.
