It might have been Dundee United who turned away another 2 potential transfer targets this week, but the end result is the same – no new faces!
Both Jani Sturm and Marc Eric Guei have been on trial at Tannadice for a week, but manager Craig Levein hasn`t been impressed by what he`s seen.
“Neither showed enough to convince me that a longer stay was warranted and both have been told so,” admitted Levein to the Dundee United official website.
“It’s disappointing, but it’s important we get the right type of player for this role.”
The hunt for a new striker is starting to get desperate now, with ith less than 10 days until the unofficial season kickoff against Barcelona at Tannadice.
Craig Dargo, Chris Porter, David Weatherson, Jason Scotland and Mark De Vries are just a few of the attacking players that Dundee United have missed out during the summer so far.
Levein continued, “The search for the right striker continues and remains my number one priority.”
“A number of other options for this position have been, and will continue to be, explored”
Although, after wasting a week on the 2 trialists, it appears that Levein has gone off the idea of giving trials to anyone else.
“I`m looking at people I know rather than players coming for trials,” he told the Evening Telegraph.
“That will take time, but there are a few things in the pipeline.”
