Dundee United midfielder Mark Kerr is attracting a lot of interest both north and south of the border, with SPL rivals Aberdeen the latest club to be linked with the talented 25-year-old.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood is losing at least 8 players at the end of the season, meaning that he has to start rebuilding his 1st team squad, making Mark Kerr an important part of his new look side.

Kerr is out of contract in the summer, but Dundee United are keen to lure the former Falkirk player into signing a new deal that would keep him at Tannadice.

“I’m not surprised clubs are interested in Mark,” admitted United manager Craig Levein, after the CIS Cup final defeat to Rangers.

“I’ve spoken to his agent and would obviously like to do something to make him stay with us but it all depends.”

Other clubs, including Preston North End and Hearts, have also shown an interest in Kerr, who has played 36 matches for United already this season.

Coca-Cola Championship side Preston North End are likely to be favourites to sign the Bellshill born midfielder, because they have the finances to offer a better wage package than Dundee United, Hearts or Aberdeen.

“I don’t even want to talk about that. If we sign him, we’ll let you know,” Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood told the Times, intending not to let much away about his interest in Kerr.
