Totally Unacceptable – That’s how many Dundee United supporters have described the club’s start to 2007…
A humiliating 5-1 defeat to Falkirk on New Years day, was followed by a 5-0 defeat at Ibrox and a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
Things were starting to look up in the Scottish Cup, following a 3-2 win over Saint Mirren, but the club crashed out of the competition to Caley Thistle 1-0 in the next round.
Then, as if things couldn’t get any worse, Dundee United couldn’t even beat bottom-of-the-table Dunfermline at home!
Struggling Dunfermline are a side which hasn’t scored a goal since losing 2-1 to Celtic on the 10th of December 2006, that was 8 games previous to the 0-0 goalless draw at Tannadice.
It was probably even more disappointing for Dundee United supporters, after witnessing the initial turnaround after manager Craig Levein arrived in November.
United won 15 points out of a possible 21 in the first few weeks after Levein’s arrival, and ended 2006 with an encouraging 3-1 win over highflying Aberdeen at Tannadice.
However, things took an unexpected turn after the Hogmany celebrations, with that embarrassing New Year’s Day defeat to the Bairns.
Losing 5 goals to a club like Falkirk clearly isn’t good enough for a team like Dundee United, but to then go and lose another 5 goals to a struggling Rangers side just rubbed salt into the wound.
In a poll on ArabFC.net, only 11% of those who voted were happy with performances in recent weeks, with 30% only happy that United were still playing better football than they had been under previous manager Craig Brewster.
47% considered United’s recent displays to have been unacceptable, with only a third of them noting any positives at all from those games.
Although, there were a lucky 12% of those who voted who hadn’t even watched Dundee United this year yet, so they weren’t in a positive to comment on those recent performances.
Since the poll concluded, Dundee United have managed to win again, by beating Saint Mirren at Love Street last weekend.
Hopefully, this isn’t a false dawn and Levein can lead the club back up the SPL table, but if anyone can help turn things around again??.its captain Barry Robson, who has only just returned from a 3 match suspension from United’s league matches.

Your new poll is so darn stupid… it is so obvious he should not get called up Mr AJ.
Being a Dundee supporter, thats no surprise you would say that, but you are biased. If he was a Dundee player, Im sure you’d be campaigning for him to be in the Scotland squad as well!!!
The fact is, he isn’t THAT good. He isn’t good enough IM (Non-biased) O
