Dundee United’s Mihael Kovacevic has revealed how a conversation with chairman Stephen Thompson really helped him in his hour of need.

The Swiss defender is currently working his way back from cruciate ligament surgery, but is actually out of contract at the end of the year. However, he has since received words of great comfort from his chairman.

“The chairman has spoken to me and told me that when I am back in training then we will talk,” Kovacevic told the Dundee Courier. “They want to sign me again and that was great to hear. That makes me feel so happy and it has been a real weight off my mind.”

Kovacevic also praised the support of his playing colleagues who have themselves offered regular boosts to his morale.

“My team-mates have helped a lot, keeping my spirits up,” he added. “They have all been asking how I am doing, and if they are interested in you then that is nice. I really appreciate it.”
