Dundee United manager Peter Houston was naturally delighted at the response of his players following their recent Scottish Cup exit.

The Tangerines went to Ibrox at the weekend and twice came from behind to eventually defeat second-placed Rangers 3-2.

“This team has had a couple of dodgy results over the past few years,” Houston told BBC Scotland. “But they always go out and answer back the right way.

“They were hurting after the Motherwell match and didn’t play anywhere near the standards they set themselves,” he added. “It was a thrilling victory, and it’s now six out of six for us.

“We’ve sent loyal Dundee United fans home happy tonight. They travel with us through thick and thin and they’re all going home in their cars with a 3-2 victory.”
