Dundee United’s biggest problem in recent months has been infront of goal, the forwards have been struggling to find the net all season, so it’s always good news when any United player hits the back of the net.

Colin Samuel did just that against Austria on Wednesday night, scoring Trinidad & Tobago`s only goal in a 4-1 friendly defeat in Austria.

Samuel equalised for the Caribbean islanders in the 23rd minute, but the European side proved too strong and eventually ran out comfortable winners.

Although, especially with United`s small 1st team squad, Craig Levein`s first concern will always be whether the player managed to get through the 90min of International football without getting injured.

“It`s good to see Sammy score and that should have done him good, but when you have players away on international duty there is always a worry until you see them back fit and well,” said United`s new manager.

Levein continued “Sammy was only in Vienna, but you want to get a look and see how they are when they are back in training.”

Hopefully, Samuel will be in good shape for the club’s visit to East End park on Saturday, because after last weekends impressive 2nd half performance against Kilmarnock, he’s likely to be one of the first names on Craig Levein`s teamsheet.

Bottom of the table Dunfermline have been struggling this season, but even with United’s improved fortunes in recent weeks, that doesn`t mean it`ll be any easier for Craig Leveins side – far from it, it’ll probably be the toughest test Levein has faced as manager of the club so far.

Dunfermline have been a bit of a bogie side for United, ever since the two teams battled it out for promotion in the 1st division all those years ago – United haven`t had much success against the Pars, especially at East End Park, where United once found themselves 3-0up at half time and were lucky to escape the ground with a 3-3 draw after 90minutes!!!

So, Levein will need his full squad to be fully fighting fit ahead of the trip to Fife, and hopefully this time United can return to Dundee with all 3 points!!!
