Dundee United have snapped up experienced striker Scott McDonald on an initial one-year deal.

The well-travelled 33-year-old already spent a couple of spells with Motherwell, while also including periods at Celtic, Middlesbrough and Millwall.

He’s currently approaching a highly-impressive 600 career games and double-century of goals – and also been capped twenty-six times by Australia.

“I am delighted to sign for United. I want to help this Club secure promotion into the Premiership,” McDonald told United’s official website. “After I came up and looked around St Andrews and spoke to the Manager, it was an easy decision.

“I had options in the Ladbrokes Premiership and down south, but I believe that I can achieve success here,” he continued. “Being successful and enjoying my football is important to me and that means winning the Ladbrokes Championship this season is the aim.”
